Update 7 is cool! Cool

Ran the new F2P quest chain today and it was pretty darn good.

My thoughts on this 3-quest chain in The Twelve/Lordsmarch Palace:

#1. Diplomatic Impunity - Started off without a healer so I was "nominated" as the bard to heal (nice of them to tell me before I entered the quest with enough scrolls for me but not 4 others). Finally got a cleric who stayed with us through the rest of the quests. Pretty easy quest - toughest things to kill were the trash scorpions. Did not die - yay! Smile

#2. Frame Work - very nice job on this one - the best one of the three IMO. Won't spoil it because it's a lot of fun figuring it out on your own. After the prior adventure, I went to House K and stocked up on a bunch of guild heal pots and scrolls. Everyone else died on this one except me - then they all rezzed out without telling me, assuming it was a wipe. I finally said, "hey guys, the boss is dead - do you want the chest or not?". They were like "wtf - you're still in there???" and came back in to help finish off the quest (there is one more thing you have to do after killing the boss - that's all I'll say).

#3. Eyes of Stone - another pretty easy quest - lots of running around and things to do. Endboss wasn't too hard to kill but we had a couple squishies die (I once again lived - yay)! I won't spoil it for you by telling too much more about it other than I got a nice pair of gloves from the end chest.

------------------------------------------------------------
Other thoughts:

Still have yet to run the new P2P Chronoscope raid (requires Devil Assault Adventure Pack) - looks challenging! afro

Saw lots of newly-rolled half-orcs running around the harbor and marketplace - they make the Warforged look smaller - lol.

Heard that the live event in Delera's graveyard was bugged and had to shutdown early (I didn't attend).

New interfaces seem more colorful and graphical - the inventory and auction house have been redone and are now searchable.

Overall what I've seen of Update 7 looks pretty good - nice job, Turbine!

Delera's graveyard was spooky and cool. No XP, though, which was a shame.

Hireling timers pause in public areas. This is pretty incredibly useful.

Edit: Hehe - ok, now I'm reading the website's list of things they did. The hireling section really is funny.
Quote :

* Hireling contract timers will now pause when in a public area.
* Your own hirelings will no longer show "Hireling of..." under their name, and instead will just show "Hireling". Other players hirelings will still show "Hireling of...".
* Left mouse clicks will now work after going through a portal in Mouse Look mode with Hirelings active.
* Hirelings will now turn towards their targets when they should.
* A bug has been fixed so Hirelings should no longer cause lag for players in certain circumstances.
* Hirelings will no longer break the LFM party tooltip that lists each player in the group.
* Hirelings will no longer get stuck/confused when attempting to use a rest or rez shrine.
* In-game hireling vendors will now sell contracts for all 20 favored soul and all 20 bard hirelings.
* Hirelings set to defensive mode will continuously use ranged attacks (including spells) when in defensive mode when explicitliy told to attack a target. Previously, the hireling would perform one attack and then lose interest.
* Undocked hireling bars will now preserve their location and orientation across sessions. The first, docked, bar will still need to be moved most of the time, but the rest should show up where you left them.

Translation: Hirelings have been slapped around and told to not be so damn stupid.

I've rolled a half-orc barbarian, but he's strictly a THF because they have special bonuses for THF weapons!

I enjoyed the event in delera's graveyard and was kinda cool to see so many of the guild in a group together ^^ Got a nifty cloak out of it and about 15 potions of deathward so I'm happy =) I'd collected around 900 motes by the end for these goodies.

Thanks to Jill for the resurrections and to both Jill and Anto for the buffs that helped me stay alive for a lot of the time. Think I racked up 5 deaths in the 5 hours I was running around the graveyard ^^

Lots of fun!

Hope they get the festival fixed and let players have another shot at it.

I missed the first Endless Night Festival, but found a good guide explaining it.

Well, ran the new P2P Chronoscope raid today (no flagging - requires VIP status or owning the Devil Assault Adventure Pack).

Wow - they really pulled out all the stops on this one - I won't spoil it for you though - hehe.

I will say that for a level 6 raid, it is pretty hardcore.

The Chronoscope can be played on epic difficulty (level 20), and there's no disappointments for it being too easy...

Ran it at level 8 (elite) with players ranging from levels 10 - 18.

Even at level 8, it still requires heavy hitters in the raid group to even finish (don't expect much if any XP).

Some great loot too - quite useful for player levels 4 - 10 (the epic versions look cool too).

Nice job on a low-level raid that behaves just like a high-level raid (e.g. 12-person, timer for 3 days, bound loot, etc.).

This is good because it teaches newcomers the ropes of raids (sans flagging) early in the game.

Haven't run it on epic yet, but I'm sure it is awesome (and tough).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Here are some links to the new F2P quest chain guides (in order - starts in Lordsmarch Plaza):

1. Diplomatic Impunity
2. Frame Work
3. Eyes of Stone

Happy questing/raiding, NNGO! afro

Flagging is when there are other requirements in order to do a quest/raid. Usually it's on high level stuff, but before the new Chronoscope raid the only raid you didn't have to flag for is Tempest Spine.

For example, in order to run the Shroud raid there are 5 other quests you have to complete first. You only have to complete each one once (don't have to complete them all again each time you want to run it) but some of them are pretty tough.

Neither did I when I started. Thought flagging had something to do with putting yourself on the LFG list so group leaders could pick and choose who they sent invites to Laughing

Yeah, I first thought flagging was tagging you so that they could find you on a map - lol.
