Finally found a job it seems. Should have my place and be living independently again by February, so happy for that! Still waiting for some of my stuff to arrive though, and I can't get in touch with the person that was supposed to send it, so I'm kinda paranoid that I'll lose more of my things. Keeping everything with myself from now on.

On a more detailed note, my trip across Canada definitely was great for my creative juices. I'm performing at open mic nights now. Only done one so far, where I (of course) recited the Raven from memory, just because it's something I can do and have been able to do for awhile now. Working on memorizing the Highwayman by Alfred Noyes and been writing a lot of my own poetry. Last weekend me and some others had an amazing hotbox and I wrote 2 poems which might be the greatest things I've written so far.

And every weekend me and my music friends get together to jam. This weekend we're going to try to write an actual song, instead of the usual improv we do. And it's been happening so regularly that we're thinking of coming up with a name for our crew. Might be the beginnings of a band.

Bad news is that I'm starting to worry I have problems being sober. Feeling in withdrawal from last weekend. I'll have a job soon, though, so I can go back to my state of consistent stoned-ness.

Poetry is a damn fine thing as is music. Good luck Dave, if you and your friends do get a band together!

This knee injury is driving me crazy. Sure I have more time for my own writing now that I'm not distracted by the physical activities such as hiking, bike riding, and boxing which tend to take up a large portion of my time. But the sedentary way I am now living is getting on my nerves something fierce. It's only been two weeks but I feel like I'm suffocating. Ugh!

Makes me want to roll a fat one, as a matter of fact I think I'll be doing that right now. Now to call an old friend as I haven't smoked in quite a while. Boy howdy she'll be surprised and elated that I want to actually take up that old habit even if it is only temporary. Hi ho Silver away! At least when in regards to my normal state of consciousness.

Because there are days in my life when I do have to totally brag about those kids of mine. Just got home from the most amazing football game ever....and had the great pleasure of riding home with a Provincial champ (it's like states for those of you who might be confused Wink )

if you go to 21:00 you'll see one pretty awesome tackle by #38

yes, I lost my voice... and it was so worth it!

Very weird, and I can't get it translated either, even as a name that doesn't seem right for translation via google? hmm O.o

I get weird emails all the time, either ones for Senior Dating (for fucks sake, c'mon now >.< lol), some saying they have money for me just need to do a wire transfer starting with $200+ first to get it started (yeah right! if i had it in the first place why the hell would i give it away lol), or the ones that say YOU HAVE WON!! ... ain't nothing free in life lol. But yeah, that's a first for me seeing what you just got! scratch

I just get emails offering to enlarge my penis.  To be fair to them, I am deficient in that area.

And a quick update on me.  I haven't been posting much simply because I have been on a downer.  It is one of those things that happen when you are bipolar and I deal with it (All part of being an emotionally unstable moody bitch Razz).

On the other hand, I have been through a lot of attempts to sort out my pain.  It started with a T.E.N.S. machine.  Wonderful tingles, but no effect on the pain.  Then it was a few weeks of acupuncture and acupuncture with electricity.  I don't like needles but this wasn't too bad, relaxing, but no effect on the pain.  After that it was mmm, you might have to see a specialist doctor (no shit?) so I have to wait to get an appointment.  This Doctor says the treatments didn't work because I am experiencing two types of pain at once, nerve pain and skeletomuscular pain.  She wants to try me on a course of injections (ye gods!)  to which I very reluctantly agree.  So the next week I get twelve anaesthetic injections all along my spine.  I won't lie, that hurt like fuck.  But then came two weeks of no pain, it was bliss, until the injections wore off.  Then the pain came back worse than ever.  I go back to the doctor and she says she will put me on some pills, one of which looks like a teeny tiny Viagra pill (take that you penis enlarger offerers!).  These pills knock me on my arse.  I wake up, eat, sleep, and then sleep to get over the sleeping.  Plus side no pain.  And I mean, no pain.  I can walk, touch the floor, carry things, you name it.  I am like a new person.  Then I get a cold.  It starts with conjunctivitis and works its way through my whole body.  How long does a cold normally last? one maybe two weeks?  Try six weeks until I finally go to my GP.  She tells me that yes, with CFS, a cold can set you back for a long time.  Also, turns out I have acute sinusitis, so I really am not a well puppy.  Strangely, this makes me feel better Very Happy

So, here I am, on the upwards climb from a deep depression, and fighting off yet another infection that my body can't cope with.  Despite all that, all the world has been seeing is my happy face.

Apart from that, no pain!  So what if I am evolving into cat?  No pain!  <<  after ten years of persistent, permanent, pain, this is really significant Very Happy

*gentle hugs*

Pain is my number one enemy also, although mine isn't anything compared to what you're going through or have gone through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's definitely hard to cope with. My new doc wants to do steroid injections and I refuse to do it, as much as it helps the side effects are just too much for me to handle, basically just grin and bear it anymore. There was something she had put me on once years ago that helped significantly but I had a reaction to the depression med that was in it (I can't take depression meds, fuck me up bad)...Cymbalta. Definitely helped with the pain though for the brief period I was on it. IDK, sharing it thinking it'd help but I know you've been there done that with quite a bit. Love you Bekah <3 Hope you feel better and while you're climbing that upward hill I'll be right here when needed to give you a boost Wink

AND it's wonderful hearing you're pain free! Even if/when you start purrring randomly LOL Very Happy

Life is hell right now.

Grandma is in the hospital - heart attack, Grandpa is in a nursing home and his nurse almost killed him today, for the second time in two weeks...taking my beagle baby of 14yrs to be euthanized Wednesday and I just feel dead inside. Only thing keeping me afloat are my boys right now, love them so much.

Aww...  Sorry to hear things have been so rough.  I'll keep you in my thoughts, Trin.

It occurred to me today that it's been a long while since the last time I haunted this place.  A fucking lot has happened since then but there are two things that stand out above the rest.

First and foremost is the vacation to Portugal with the illustrious Toasti!

After a grueling almost 24 hours of traveling...  We stayed in a beautiful top floor apartment in the historic district of Porto just off the Douro River.  Walked all around that area, took a 2 hour bus tour that went into different surrounding areas, rode the train up to Braga one day and down to Lisbon another.  We had sangria for breakfast...  And throughout the rest of the day(s)... Ahem.

The food there is delicious, by the way, and surprisingly cheap.  Had prosciutto right off the bone.  We even steeled ourselves and ate tripe.  After being fortified with more sangria.  I'll be honest; we probably maintained a slight buzz through most of our stay.

The night we went out to get truly snockered we ended up being in the midst of a whole gaggle of Tel Aviv guys there for the FC Porto vs Tel Aviv soccer game the next day and one French Canadian.  Leave it to tourists to make friends with other tourists!

Everyone in Porto we met was friendly and more than happy to talk/laugh with us.  The owner of our apartment recommended one restaurant literally right across the road from the docks and the fish couldn’t have been any fresher.  Across the river we sampled port wine and did end up bringing a few small bottles home.  Side note: my husband has found a new favorite wine.  XD

The architecture was amazing, the culture rich.  There are a few more things I wish we’d have done but honestly I wouldn’t change anything.  We had an amazing time.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

The left view from the front facing balcony of our apartment.

Stained glass inside the Palacio da Bolsa (the white building to the right in the picture above).

Palacio do Raio in Braga.

Bom Jesus do Monte in Braga.  (Braga is the religious capital of Portugal).  Yes, we walked all those damn steps.  We actually walked about 16 miles during our whole time there.

Porto Cathedral (sideview).

From the balcony of my room.

There are MANY more pictures but these are a few of my favorite.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Now on to the second big thing for me:

I started taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at the end of November, so for about two months now.

I have to say, it’s pretty fucking awesome.  It started as something I had to force myself to go to because I am a lazy ass and don’t like leaving once I’ve gotten home for the day and settled in.  Now?  Only last week I realized I no longer bitch about going or talk myself into going.

It is the most physically demanding thing I have ever done in my life and also one of the most rewarding.  The cardio is insane.  When I’m done, I am sweat soaked and want to die but feel absolutely amazing.  It is so empowering.  I’ve lost weight, feel better about myself, and have met some great people.  Things I struggled with in the beginning are coming more and more easily.  When we are introduced to something new my brain no longer gets tied into knots.  My body is learning to move in foreign and unfamiliar ways.

That’s not to say I don’t get beat up.  I do.  A lot.  I’ve come home with a giant bruise on the underside of my arm where someone’s knee pinched it against the mats.  I’ve almost dislocated my thumb and tweaked my shoulder.

I’ve also gotten into some of the most up close and personal positions ever while still clothed; if you have personal space issues this sport is NOT for you.  You get to know people VERY well…  It’s really quite amusing watching the guys try to figure out how to grab the collar of my gi while I’m folded in half and my chichis are in the way so they don’t feel me up.

Case in point:  Was drilling with a guy Thursday and he actually said something about my ‘boobage getting in the way’.  I giggled through the whole rest of the time.

So, that’s what’s new in my life.  Can’t wait for class tonight!

She's a lovely girl! You're a wonderful dog-mom, Trin. So many wonderful memories. And truly, making the decision to say goodbye peacefully is a gift we can give them that we can't to humans. I know- that doesn't make it any easier. Sending you much love.

Means so much to me Jen <3 can't sleep, head is pounding and I had to get up cause I was actually keeping the baby up from tossing and turning, not the other way around this time!

Still can't get it out of my head. That damn vet was new that I took her to, well, same place but she did it instead of our regular guy. Stuck the needle in her before sedating her and it was painful, I was pissed and it took everything I had not to scream at her, she was pregnant so I didn't. But I made it very clear that she better sedate her before trying to find a vein again, so they did. She went out snoring. Everyone keeps saying I'm taking it well, but I'm fucking not. Feel dead inside, hurts just as much as when my grandpa died, maybe more. I'd already had been grieving for her even before this final day.

Daisy was the best dog. My gran called us gypsies, we did a lot of traveling together me and that old dog. Only one I've ever been able to fully trust around my kids. Trusted her with my own life. I know you understand, and again, I can't thank you enough for the words of comfort you've given me. You are the most sincere, most wonderful beautiful person I know with a beautiful soul. Thank you my friend huggsss

Last spring I had to let go my oldest dog. She was somewhere between 15-17 yrs old (hard to tell when you get a stray dog). It's a painfull and difficult decision to pick up the phone and ask the vet to come to euthanize your so loved animal, but as Toasti said...we do have that option and responsibility to do that when it is the time. I still miss her, and my other dog was mourning and missing her as well the first two months. BUT.... from time to time I do feel her presence when I walk the young one . I feel her walking on the right side of me ( as she always used to do). So, maybe her physical life has ended, but she is still in your hart and I am sure she will be around. HUGGS

Thought of the day:

Parenthood is a state of being in which you sniff a small human's butt several times a day and consider that completely normal.

Never updated on the trip to Holland/Germany. It was great. Amsterdam was such a good place, the small streets, the people, the weed. I was there for 3.5 days, could of been 7 and still would have found things to do (mostly weed probably).

Then Berlin, which was, idk, such a weird change from Amsterdam. First encounter with a berliner was a woman barging past us off the plane. Wonderful first impression.. The city was huge, very efficient, very serious.  Great for those who love history.

But on Friday night, we drank 1 LITRE Stein's cocktails, went back to our apartment with two people from the bar, (where every bar allows smoking indoors, despite it being ilegal!?) drank until 9am, then started a 36 hour hangover. Altogether, both cities were unbelievable. Berlin was a city I could probably live in, Amsterdam is definitely a holiday destination. Which I'd definitely love to re-visit.

Will post pics if I can get around to it Very Happy

As for me in non-holiday life, I quit drinking. A lot of people claim "I could quit if I wanted to" about just about anything they do, but never back it up. I decided to quit because whenever I go out I see what an absolute state some people get in and it just disgusts me. This is temporary, by the time my 21st rolls around it would have been 3 months and Ill finish up there.
After the slow gym period of november-december-january ( pale ) I started up again and this time go running outdoors on my off days. Hope to run something in decent time like 5k or 10k in a few months.
