PostSubject: When in France   Sun Mar 01, 2015 8:33 pm

Was just watching the scrolling little news while sitting in boring old Champagne, and through the stream of constant messages of election results, revolts and such, I saw the KAP in France wrote an article about the fine Celtic folks in Portugal right now! Not sure if any of you have seen it yet, of if any of you care, but here's the French and English version.

My French is shit but thankfully I got a lot of help from my friends that are much more intelligent, and know the language far better than I, so it should be readable lol. It still turned out shitty though. If anyone can help make the English Translation make more sense, be my guest.

Terrible English Translation:

Quote :
Lisbon - They're far away, but they're at war with the Celtic Alliance, composed of three Irish counties and a Scottish county. War was declared to the Portuguese county of Lisbon. The French traveling(?) there were victims of the clashes. Kenneth, Virelade and Alida are the first to have manifested about this episode that means a bad period(?).

It begun as a request for assistance by Coimbra (Portugal) to a member of the Celtic Alliance. A survey was then conducted by the English(?), revealing that Lisbon was responsible for various attacks on its neighbor, looting and (Something, I have no idea what the fuck), in addition to being sentenced to a severe punishment by the Pirates(?) In Laighean. In light of these events, the four counties have decided to take up arms for their support to the County of Coimbra. This is what the Chancellor of Laighean, Lady Spring.., declared in the name of the Celtic Alliance, in an official letter to the County of Lisbon.

The Irish-Scottish armies invaded Lisbon to, "Restore/maintain order and avenge dead sailors." A group of French that wanted to leave the city of Alacer do Sal tried to get out, but were killed by a Celtic Army. They sent an unanswered letter to request help from their duke recently. The armies from across the Channel strike down anyone trying to move into the county of Lisbon without exception.

On 11 February 1463, the Irish-Scottish armies took the city of Lisbon and even participated(?) in the election of Alcacer do Sal. They want to take over the county and all of its towns. He(?) asked the count of Lisbon to recognize its crimes and beg forgiveness. The Lisbonnese refused to surrender and their war carrack Aveiro sailed to Coimbra. The boat was sunk and the table was turned by the Celtic forces.

The ports are the next challenge and the French group fear for their boat. The Celtic Alliance proved they did not come to act as peacekeepers(?). Currently, two other War Carracks and a Genovese Warship were also destroyed at sea. Officially, the Alliance says CA keep hold of the County of Lisbon as the authors have not recognized their faults, and are hunting pirates(?).

Can France join the war and defend it's people? (Something else) We have no knowledge at the time(?), but French ambassadors are working on this(?)

Original French Translation:

Quote :

Thanks for posting!

My favorite part was this: "...Something, I have no idea what the fuck), in addition to being sentenced to a severe punishment ...

:-)

Lisbon (KAP) - They're not the closest of neighbors, and yet they're now engaged in open conflict. In fact, the Celtic Alliance, made out of three Irish counties and one Scottish county, has officially declared hostility against the Portuguese county of Lisbon. French citizens who were there fell victim to these battles. Kenneth de Virelade and his wife Alida de Virelade are the first to protest against this episode which threatens difficult times to come.

It all started after the county of Coimbra (Portugal) asked for help from a member of the Irish-Scottish alliance. After having investigated it, the Saxons learned that the county of Lisbon was responsible for many aggressions against its neighbor, including pillage and turning a town into ville-franche, as well as covering for pirates who had caused damage in the Irish county of Laighean. With this knowledge, the four counties decided to arm themselves and come to the aid of the county of Coimbra. That is what the Chancellor of Laighean, Dame Spring.., has announced in the name of the Celtic Alliance in an official letter addressed to the county of Lisbon.

Irish-Scottish armies have invaded the county of Lisbon in order to, according to them, "reestablish justice and avenge fallen sailors." A group of French citizens, who are there and wish to leave, have tried to get out of the town of Alcácer do Sal, but they were massacred by a Celtic army. Some of them being Guianese(?), a letter asking for help has been sent to their duchy but has yet to have been answered. The armies coming from across the channel terminate any person trying to circulate in the county of Lisbon, without making any exceptions.

On the 11th of February 1463, the Irish-Scottish armies seized the town of Lisbon and even interfered in the town elections of Alcacer do Sal by running for them. It is clear that their aim is to take control over all town halls of the county. It has been demanded that the county council of Lisbon acknowledges its crimes and ask for forgiveness. The people of Lisbon have refused to surrender and one of their battle carracks has sailed toward Aveiro in Coimbra. The ship was sunk and the council ousted by the Celtic forces.

Ports will prove to be the next issue, and the French people there fear for their ships since the Celtic Alliance has well proved that it did not come to differentiate between enemy and neutral. At the moment, two other battle carracks and a Genevese warship have been destroyed at sea. The Celtic Alliance has officially declared that it will keep its control over the county of Lisbon until those concerned admit to their faults, chase the pirates and promise to stop their malicious acts.

Can France participate in this conflict and protect its citizens? At the moment, we have no information on the country's position, or whether the French diplomacy is even aware of this affair at all.

I'm probably a little late, but there you go. Smile
