Umm Zakku the book is Australia and Xmas is our Summer.

That will be a July festivity the snow and its a old book at 15 cents I would say late 60's early 1970's.

We took up cents in 1966.

The mag is still running at called a weekly but is sold only once a month

You motivated me to investigate further, Tod. Thank you. Smile A close looks says May 10th, 1967. I managed to find this wonderful Aussie archive site called Trove and now I have the pattern I wanted.

Quote :
TO CROCHET OUR I COVER MAD CAP
. The mad cap on our cover - pulled down well over the ears and with cut-outs for eyes - would make a conversation piece in any ski wardrobe.
Here are directions to crochet the cap:
Materials: 4 balls Emu Sports; No. 6 crochet hook; small amount contrast yarn.
Use yarn double and work in h.tr. into back loop only. Make 3 ch., join into a ring.
1st Round: Work 6 h.tr. into ring.
2nd Round: Inc. to 12 h.tr. 3rd Round: Inc. to 16 h.tr. 4th Round: Inc. to 20 h.tr. 5th Round: Inc. to 26 h.tr. 6th Round: Inc. to 30 h.tr. 7th Round: Inc. to 36 h.tr. 8th Round: Inc. to 42 h.tr. 9th Round: Inc. to 46 h.tr.
10th Round: Inc. to 50
hu.
11th Round: Inc. to 60
h.tr.
12th to 19th Rounds: Work 60 h.tr.
20th Row: Work 38 h.tr., turn, crochet over these 38 sts. for 3 rows. Then make 32 ch., join across opening to other side of 38 sts. Work 2 rows over all sts. Fasten off. Rejoin yarn to 9th st. on upper edge of opening. Work 6 h.tr., turn, work 5 h.tr., turn, work 4 h.tr., fasten off. Stitch these 4 sts. to lower edge of opening. Crochet one row double crochet in contrast yarn round eyeholes.

Nice I am sure it will be very very warm.

It was prob perfect if you have a Beehive hair style as well.

Not sure if Emu Sports Wool is still made

All the yarn databases still have that brand but not that particular yarn, so I assume it's discontinued. Well, it says to double up that yarn, which I assume is a sports weight. And the hook size translates to size H, U.S. So I can pretty much double up any sports weight yarn or use one strand of worsted(average) and it'd turn out just fine. Worsted weight didn't exist back then. Shame it doesn't include sizing as well.

And I wouldn't use red yarn, for reasons Zakku has already stated. Laughing And I think my white yarn would make it look like I'm sort of KKK groupie. scratch Maybe if I sew flowers on it.

My yarn knowledge is next to nil.

I am guessing your translations are right, you should knit one up and post a pic, yes red white, pink and brown are out.

I bought something very delicious today that I never tried before. Irish Soda Bread(arán sóide). Sweet but not too sweet and the caraway seeds are a nice tough. I found a recipe for it online that I may try out next time.

Quote :
Ingredients

* 5 cups sifted all-purpose unbleached flour
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/4 pound (1 stick) butter
* 2 1/2 cups mixed light and dark raisins, soaked in water for 15 to 20 minutes and drained
* 3 tablespoons caraway seeds
* 2 1/2 cups buttermilk
* 1 large egg, slightly beaten

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Generously butter 2 (9 by 5-inch) bread pans.

Stir together the sifted flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Cut in the butter and mix very thoroughly with your hands until it gets grainy. Stir in raisins and caraway seeds.

Add the buttermilk and egg to the flour mixture. Stir until well moistened. Shape dough into 2 loaves and place in the pans.

Bake for 1 hour. Test with a toothpick for doneness. Cool in the pans for 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Suddenly addicted to Squiby. Most low maintenance thing ever. Basically, you shop around for pets. Some pets are easy to get but others require answering a riddle to get them. Don't have to feed them or anything. Just let people click on them and after X amount of clicks, the pets evolve. So basically pretty that evolves.

Last 2 are password only but the clues are easy to find.

Aside from that, very focused on texturing 3D art right now. Smile

Yeah, there's a lot of dragons, pokemons and lots of random shit. I go for more of the random shit. Laughing Like the pink egg in my sig is Inuyasha's mom. I know nothing about Inuyasha but I saw its second and third form and thought, ooo pretty. Razz

This one is definitely a dragon, but you have to solve the riddle to figure out the password to unlock it.

Latest ones I collected are "sheepies." I decided to collect the Atebus Sheepy and the Haggis Sheepy. Razz They evolve into sheep.

Here's my profile with my collection so far.
http://squiby.net/user/Oneira

Pretty much, I look around and if I see something I consider really shiny, I'll go to the artist's profile and see what else they have.

There's lots of dragons but if you'd like a specific artist, this one makes many:
