PostSubject: Completionist Project   Wed Aug 17, 2011 3:36 am

During my time here in the back of beyond, I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do next in DDO. I'm working on Epic stuff (mostly for Gilders and Zog), but as it depends on luck with drops, I am aware that it's an extremely long-term project, so I started thinking about something else.

At the beginning of September, I'll probably cap my 5th toon and so I've been thinking why don't I just take one of them, run it through all the classes and aim for completionist? It'll be a hard slog, but I've got the time!

Seeing as Trappbot is a wiz/rog, he's got lots of gear, but none of it is really specialised, so I've decided that he's probably the best toon to do it with (it's a shame that he's called Trappbot and half the time, he won't be able to do traps, but meh...). So, I think that I'll probably TR him as soon as he hits 20 and get that shmexy wizard past life Smile. Plus completionists should never aim for getting loads of gear because they'll be forever looking for stuff for their new life and nobody has 10,000 free inventory/bank slots!

I'll probably run him through the Shroud once or twice to get a +45HP item and maybe start off a weapon (Lit II Great Axe? Or Min II Falchion?) for future lives, but basically the plan is to TR as soon as he hits 20.

I think next life, he'll stay WF and go pure Sorc Nuker as yet again there won't be a great demand for gear. I was thinking of running through the caster lives first (hopefully Artificer will be ready soon and that could be his 3rd life) before moving onto melee as it'll give me more time to get a GS weapon or two finished.

Why am I saying this out loud? Well, I was wondering if any of my awesome guildies would like to join me in this adventure... all you need to do is take a capped toon and drag them through all the levels, again and again, in the knowledge that they will eventually get a whole lot better with past lives and 34, then 36 point builds, etc.

I was also wondering if anyone is likely to have a lot of free time in September Smile I've been on DDO briefly at weekends and so I miss it Smile I get back home on 3rd/4th September and then don't actually start work again until October, so September is a great time for me to TR! I know that our timezones are all screwed up, but as I'll be dossing about at home, I am quite flexible in terms of time Wink

I think the best thing would be if we could get a semi-static group going and as we go through the lives, we'll all have a turn at playing all the roles - the healers will change, the melee, casters, trapmonkeys etc and it sounds a lot of fun if you ask me Smile

Let's go on a journey together and have fun with it - none of our toons need necessarily be über because the aim is merely to get to 20 and then start again in a different role.

Hmm, I am planning on Tr'ing my wiz and my monk multiple times for the passive past life feats.

Completionist sounds fun but I haven't thought about it enough. Not sure which toon I'd like to do it with other than the ranger, but he isn't close to being able to TR soon. Sad

Would you mind if I nabbed 2X past life wiz and then switch to fvs/artificer/barbarian/hell, all of them haha

btw:

Past Life: Artificer Passive Past Life You were an Artificer in a past life. You occasionally find yourself tinkering with your gear. When you use a rod, staff, or Wand, you have a 5% chance not to expend a charge. Each time you acquire this feat you gain a stacking +1 bonus to the Use Magic Device skill. This feat can be stacked up to three times.

Arcanejill is far too well geared as a cleric for me to want to TR her as anything else. Jillarcane the wiz is newly capped, and I'm currently banking 14 on Charliecat the fighter.

It sounds like a long-term project and Anto and I certainly found that it's much easier to TR static with someone else. I'm interested, though not sure if I want to TR Jillarcane.. would rather TR Charliecat if I can push her to cap soon.

Ya the wizard past life feats are amazing - especially the active one as it gives +1 to all DCs.

I don't know what others think, but for me, the idea of going for completionist, is not to have über gear at first, as you can't store it all... it's more about levelling, getting past lives and eventually getting that lovely completionist feat Smile

I could TR Gilders again, but he'd be needing lots of XP and I thought that another guildy might be TRing for the first time, so it'd be easier for us, if we were all running toons that were TRing for the first time...

Zog's a long way off TRing as I'd like to get a couple of Lit IIs, a Rad II and maybe even a Triple Pos maul for him... eventually, the plan is for him to be my best geared toon.

I'm probably looking at starting to do this on around 10th September and trying to get the first TR life done by the end of the month (if that's humanly possible)... so there's still time to cap a toon before we go Smile

If you were up for it Anto, I wouldn't mind at all if you took another Wiz past life - I could go FvS at a push (would have to start my GS weapon I guess) or if we found others, I could stay with my Sorc plan.

I also found that it's good to have people ready to go when you TR. You get to know how each other play and you don't have to wait around or join random PuGs. When TRing Gilders, I was able to run with you guys a few times and also found a few other people who I ran with on several occasions.

I could go for this. I was planning on TRing Zillee soon - and with Xillee about to reach vale, she's good to stop there and farm stuff while giving me my fighter kicks, if I go completionist with Zillee.

I'd probably go THF barbarian or bard for the first few lifes so I have time to farm out ingreds and stuff for twf options later on. If I go bard, I could give you guys some healing for this first run through. Either or is fine by me.

Thinking about my GS items, I've come up with this:

Immunity and SP item
http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/cgi-bin/shroud.cgi?forced=&altar=3&weapon=weapon&item=goggles&craft=1&effects=blindward_disimm,esp_2_cha,esp_3_cha,exist_1_

or

HP item
http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/cgi-bin/shroud.cgi?forced=&altar=3&weapon=weapon&item=goggles&craft=1&effects=ee_1_dex,iee_2_str,gee_3_str,tempered_1_

I'm more tempted by the former as it's cheaper and I can do without the extra HP I think.

As for a weapon:

http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/cgi-bin/shroud.cgi?forced=water_1_&altar=3&weapon=light_pick&item=item&craft=1&effects=superior_glaciation,imp_glaciation,greater_glaciation,crushing_waves_

(not really sure about weapons for a sorc, but thought that extra help for Water Savant could be a good idea)

In that case, I'm prepared to go WF FvS first (Lord of the Blades) so that at least we have a semi-healer lol.

So for weapon - Lit II, Min II or Triple Pos? I'm tempted to make a triple pos Greatsword...

Aye, but I was thinking of the others too. We're bound to have aa fleshy or two and it'd be good to have one person who knows they are supposed to heal at some point...

Rethinking this. I'm not sure I want to go completionist with zillee, more just want to focus on her being a toon who beats the crap out of mobs. Also she's halfway to getting another tod ring and 10 runs away from 60 shrouds ...

What I could do is make a new toon for this project and run with you guys? It means I'll always be one life behind you, but I'm fine with that. Hows that sound? I could do the first life as a twinked out fighter so she won't hold you TRs up =p

I'm willing to do the next life as a WF FvS to make sure we have heals, but we might need someone with trap skills, especially if we want to do everything up to elite.

With the introduction of Artificers it gives us a little more scope for trapmonkeys, but we might not have one every life.... any ideas?

1 splash level of rogue would do the trick as well. Or an artificer, but I have no idea how to build an effective arti yet.

I figure my order will be:

1: wizard (current)
2: wizard
3: FVS
4: cleric
5: barb
6: fighter
7: monk
8: paladin
9: ranger
10: rogue
11: artificer
12: bard

final life: wizard

would like 3 past lives of FVS and Sorc but will see how i feel after this long grind hehe

Mine would be:

1: Wizard (current)
2: FVS
3: Sorc
4: Bard/Artificer
5: Cleric
6: Bard/Artificer
7: Paladin
8: Monk
9: Barb
10: Fighter
11: Ranger
12: Rogue

Then either back to Wiz or SOrc.

The idea for me is to get the spellcaster levels out of the way first, then move onto melee and specialists. I might do the odd splash here (like 2 monk during my cleric life) mostly for Evasion Smile

Not really thought about order or anything like that. May be I'll just be random or roll dice. Or you can suggest me an order to fit in with what you guys are planning.

no worries Razz

im not really worried about having any specific class either. just do whats fun for you, even if its another fighter! Razz

my wiz will be WF so will be self heals.

i think we'll have to play some catch up to you in the xp department eventually tho, you will cap 1 million xp before we do.. Surprised

first life is 1.9 mill to cap
second is 3,139,250
third and every life after that is 4,378,500 to cap

which if we went 100% static, a first life toon will cap before a tr1 would hit level 15.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Experience_points_after_Reincarnation%28s%29?useskin=sparseman

that said, my sorc is dragging ass and only level 14. i cant TR my wizard until the sorc caps, and i probably only have 10 dungeon tokens as well.

Well, if possible, I'd like to get cracking in September as that's when I'll have lots of free time and can therefore do a lot and also be flexible in terms of time.

I was hoping to make a start at some point during the week beginning 5th September... but I can wait a bit as I still have a barb I could level Wink

So.. was thinking about this a bit.

I'm not going to have as much time as usual to play DDO over the next couple weeks due to work. Still willing to come along, but Charlie probably won't be capped for a bit yet.

As far as traps go, if we can rotate artificer and rogue between 4 of us, that's 8 lives where we'll have a trapper. If on the other 4 lives someone takes an easily rogue-splashed class like ranger or wiz, we can cover it fine.

As far as heals go, again rotating FVS and cleric among 4 of us covers 8 lives. On the other 4, what if we make sure one of us is a caster and we all go WF? I healed a Big Top last night on my wizard because we had no healer and everyone in the group except Anto (who can self-heal) was WF. It went fine Smile
